Palestinian Authority Claims Israeli Forces Withdraw from Jenin

The Palestinian Authority's news agency 'Wafa' reported on Friday, September 6, that Israeli forces have 'withdrawn' from the city of Jenin in the West Bank and the refugee camp in that city. According to Reuters, citing the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 21 people were killed in Jenin and the refugee camp following a 10-day operation by Israeli forces. Reuters also reported, citing an 'eyewitness,' that Israeli forces caused extensive damage to infrastructure. The Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement on Facebook, accused Israel of what it claimed was the 'transfer of its savage destruction and devastation' from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank. In response, the Israeli army announced on Friday via its Telegram channel that 'to date, 14 terrorists have been eliminated, more than 30 suspects have been arrested, about 30 explosive devices planted on roads have been neutralized, and 4 airstrikes have been carried out in the area.' According to this report, 'many terrorist infrastructures, including an underground weapons depot beneath a mosque and a laboratory used for producing explosives, were destroyed.' The Israeli army also noted that Wissam Hazem, a Hamas commander in Jenin, was killed during an anti-terror operation in northern West Bank. Hazem was responsible for shootings, bombings, and 'terrorist' activities in the West Bank. Previously, the Israeli army had stated that the aim of the military operation in the West Bank was to prevent attacks by Palestinian militant groups against Israeli citizens. The Israeli Foreign Minister had earlier warned on social media platform 'X' that the Islamic Republic is creating 'Islamic terrorism' infrastructures in Judea and Samaria. Yisrael Katz wrote that the Islamic Republic, by financing and arming refugee camps through Jordan, seeks to create an eastern front against Israel that also threatens Jordan's stability. He emphasized that the Israeli army is vigorously countering these threats and will take all necessary actions to destroy these terrorist infrastructures. Mr. Katz urged the international community to stop the Islamic Republic's actions before it is too late and to prevent the expansion of these threats. The Israeli army's operations in the West Bank have drawn criticism from several countries. The British government, expressing deep concern over Israel's operations in the West Bank, warned that there is a serious risk of instability and emphasized the urgent need to reduce tensions. A spokesperson for the British Foreign Office urged Israeli officials to show restraint, adhere to international law, and suppress those seeking to exacerbate tensions. The Jordanian Foreign Minister accused Israel of escalating violence in the West Bank.
