Palizdar: Mortazavi claimed he has taken copies of all his documents out of the country

Abbas Palizdar, one of the plaintiffs against Saeed Mortazavi, the former Tehran prosecutor, claimed that Mr. Mortazavi stated in court that he keeps a copy of all his documents and works "outside the country." In an interview with ILNA news agency published on Sunday, July 25, Mr. Palizdar said that Mr. Mortazavi threatened him with execution and also told his wife, "Don't wait for Palizdar, go find a father for your children." According to Mr. Palizdar, Saeed Mortazavi denied these statements in court, and the judge presented photos from the Kahrizak detention center, telling Mr. Mortazavi, "You denied this too; you deny everything." He added: "At that moment, Mortazavi stood up and, while leaving the room, told the judge, 'I am not Abbas Palizdar for you to speak to me in this tone; I have taken a copy of all the documents and records of what I have done out of the country, and you can do nothing.'" Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the spokesman for the Iranian judiciary, announced on Sunday that Mr. Palizdar himself is a prisoner and accused, and "his claims are not very credible." He added: "What need is there to send documents abroad? We have not heard such a thing from any credible official or unofficial person so far." Abbas Palizdar was the secretary of the investigative committee of the seventh parliament regarding the judiciary, who in 2008 exposed "widespread economic corruption" involving several high-ranking clerics, which led to his arrest. Mr. Palizdar mentioned 44 well-known Iranian figures in his speech at Bu Ali Sina University in Hamadan, nine of whom are clerics. He was sentenced to ten years in prison by a Tehran court but was released on bail of 350 million tomans in July 2009 after serving more than a year in prison. After his release, Mr. Palizdar filed a complaint against Saeed Mortazavi, who was the public and revolutionary prosecutor of Tehran at the time of his arrest, for "illegal detention and holding in solitary confinement." Peyman Haj Mahmoud Attar, a lawyer, stated in early August 2014 that Saeed Mortazavi has ten open cases in the government employees' prosecutor's office. This lawyer mentioned the Kahrizak detention center case, the complaint against Fazel Larijani, and the complaint from the parliamentary investigative committee against the Social Security Organization as among the open cases against Saeed Mortazavi. In this context, Mortazavi has not been "acquitted" in the Social Security Companies case, and several parliament members have protested the negligence in addressing Mortazavi's case. Saeed Mortazavi has been sentenced to "imprisonment and restitution of property." There have been requests to summon dozens of Ahmadinejad's government managers in the Social Security case. Mohseni Ejei confirmed the permanent dismissal of Saeed Mortazavi from the judiciary.
