Pantea Bahram Announces She Has Been Banned from Acting and Teaching

Pantea Bahram, an actress in cinema, theater, and television, announced her 'ban from activity' in a post on her Instagram account. On Sunday, July 31, she wrote that she received a text message from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance's security department stating that she is 'banned from activity' and is not even allowed to 'teach.' Bahram further questioned, 'Why, since I am not their employee, based on which law can the Ministry of Culture's security ban someone... I repeated 'law' 'law' 'broken'...'. According to this post, the actress was supposed to conduct a training course for younger individuals, which has now been taken away from her due to this ban. Pantea Bahram was among the artists who supported the protesters during the nationwide protests of 2022, known as the 'Women, Life, Freedom' protests. Amid these protests, she posted a hijab-less image of herself on her Instagram with the caption 'Women, Life, Freedom.' She was also detained for a time along with several other actresses for removing her mandatory hijab but later appeared without a hijab at the public screening of the last episode of the series 'Poost Shir' despite threats from the Islamic Republic authorities. Following this action, the Tehran Police Information Center announced that a legal case had been opened against her for 'removing the hijab' in public and for sharing images on social media.
