Paradox with Kambez Hosseini; Interview with Max Amini

"Paradox" is broadcast every Friday at 9 PM Tehran time on Radio Farda. This week's guest is respectfully Max Amini, whose first name is indeed Max, but he humorously believes it was originally 'Maggot' before they realized how odd that was and changed it to Max! Max is a comedian and undoubtedly one of the most positive Iranian-American humorists I know. Positive in the sense that he is full of enthusiasm and hope, and he doesn't hesitate for a fraction of a second to make you laugh upon seeing you. Mr. Amini is one of the most successful stand-up comedians, and people scramble to attend his shows. I first saw Max at the last Nowruz party hosted by Obama at the White House, and when he responded to my greeting with, 'Alaik Salam, Kambez Jan!' I felt as if I had known him for a hundred years. My main question for Max, as someone who works in comedy, is: 'If you were to tell someone who wants to become a comedian and do stand-up, what is the most important thing you have learned in this profession so far?'
