Participation in the 'Dialogue for the Salvation of Iran' Conference; Saeed Madani and Hossein Razagh Charged

Saeed Madani, a sociologist, and Hossein Razagh, a political activist, both imprisoned in Evin Prison, have been charged with 'conspiracy and collusion against national security' following their participation in the 'Dialogue for the Salvation of Iran' conference. The two-day virtual conference, held on the first and second of Ordibehesht this year, featured 42 political and civil activists from inside and outside Iran, along with messages from eight political prisoners. The Security Prosecutor's Office summoned Saeed Madani from Evin Prison and issued a bail of 500 million tomans. This comes despite the fact that Madani's paper presented at the conference emphasized non-violence. According to the Kaleme website, 'This paper examined the contexts and causes of protests, the nature and outlook of protests, and the scenarios ahead, identifying non-violent civil resistance as a key principle for saving Iran.' Saeed Madani has been detained since Ordibehesht of last year and was sentenced to nine years in prison on charges such as 'forming and managing anti-regime groups' and 'propaganda against the regime.' This political activist, who has been imprisoned multiple times due to his activities and research, recently issued a statement alongside Hossein Razagh and four other political prisoners against the execution of protesters following the execution of three defendants in the 'Isfahan House' case. According to the Kaleme website, Hossein Razagh, also imprisoned in Evin, has recently been interrogated on charges of 'conspiracy and collusion against the regime' and 'actions against national security.' Currently, due to illness, Razagh is under the care of doctors trusted by the judiciary. Many participants in the 'Dialogue for the Salvation of Iran' conference have been summoned and arrested by judicial and security authorities. Among those summoned or arrested following this meeting are Alieh Matlabe Zadeh, Alireza Beheshti Shirazi, Ghorban Behzadian Nejad, Narges Mohammadi, Abdollah Momeni, Abdollah Naseri Taheri, and Hashem Aghajeri. Narges Mohammadi and Golrokh Iraei are still banned from visiting due to their presentation at the 'Salvation of Iran' conference. Temporary release has been granted to Keyvan Samimi and Alireza Beheshti Shirazi from prison. Alieh Matlabe Zadeh has been summoned to the Evin Prosecutor's Office; agents searched her home with force. Hashem Aghajeri has been summoned to the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Tehran. Efforts by judicial authorities to inform Narges Mohammadi of her charges in prison continue. The security crackdown on participants in a virtual conference continues; Abdollah Momeni has also been arrested.
