Paul Ryan: I Will Not Run for President of the United States

Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, stated on Tuesday, April 12, that he would not accept any efforts to nominate him as a potential candidate for the Republican Party in the presidential election. According to Reuters, while speaking at the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington, he said: 'Let me be very clear, I have no desire to run for president and I will not accept being the Republican nominee (in this election).' Paul Ryan was the running mate of Mitt Romney, the Republican nominee in the 2012 presidential election. Following heightened disputes over the final Republican nominee, speculation arose regarding Paul Ryan's potential candidacy. Donald Trump, a New York billionaire, and Ted Cruz, a senator from Texas, are the two main Republican candidates currently competing in the party's primary elections. The final Republican nominee will be determined after the conclusion of these primaries, with the final convention scheduled to take place from July 12 to 18 in Cleveland. The final nominee must secure 1,237 delegates across the United States after the primaries. However, if neither Donald Trump nor Ted Cruz can reach this number, the attendees at the final Republican gathering will need to agree on one of the two main candidates or vote for an alternative candidate. Some media outlets in the U.S. speculate that neither of the two main Republican candidates will secure the necessary votes by the time of the Republican National Convention. Paul Ryan, who will preside over the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, stated on Tuesday that his ultimate goal is to ensure the party's integrity and cohesion in the process of determining the final Republican nominee. He mentioned that the final Republican nominee for the 2016 election will be someone who has participated in the primaries. The U.S. presidential election is set to take place in November 2016.
