Pentagon Reports Four New Attacks by Iranian Proxy Forces on U.S. Bases

The U.S. Department of Defense announced on Thursday that following the U.S. attack on facilities belonging to the IRGC in Syria on Wednesday, American forces were targeted four times by groups supported by the Islamic Republic in the Middle East. Security sources also reported that American forces were targeted on Thursday, November 9, in three drone and explosive attacks in Iraq, but there were no casualties. According to these sources, in one of these attacks, a joint patrol of American forces and the Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service near the city of Mosul was targeted by a bombing, causing damage to a vehicle but no casualties. The Pentagon's deputy spokesperson also stated on Thursday that since October 17, coinciding with the start of the conflict between the Israeli army and Hamas forces, U.S. positions and forces have been attacked 46 times, with 24 attacks occurring in Iraq and 22 in Syria. Sabrina Singh, speaking to reporters, stated that 'all these attacks have been carried out with drones or explosive missiles' and added, 'If these attacks against our personnel continue, we will not hesitate to respond at a time and place of our choosing.' According to the Pentagon, in the attacks by Iranian proxy forces on U.S. positions and bases in the Middle East, a total of 56 American personnel have been injured, but most have returned to their posts after minor treatment. The U.S. Department of Defense announced on Wednesday, November 8, that in an airstrike in eastern Syria, an important weapons center belonging to the IRGC and Iranian-backed militias was destroyed. The attack on Wednesday followed the downing of an American drone by Houthi forces in Yemen, who are supported by the Islamic Republic, off the coast of the Red Sea. The United States, which has strengthened its presence in the Middle East since the onset of the Israel-Hamas war, has repeatedly warned against efforts to escalate the conflict in the region and has informed Iranian officials that any attack on U.S. positions and forces will be met with severity. However, Iranian officials, despite expressing satisfaction with the conflict between Hamas forces and the Israeli army, have denied any involvement in Hamas's movements or those of other groups it supports in the Middle East. Hamas killed at least 1,400 Israelis, mostly civilians, in the terrorist attack on October 7 and kidnapped about 240 Israelis and foreign nationals, including children, women, and the elderly. The United States, Canada, the European Union, Japan, Israel, and several other countries have classified Hamas as a terrorist organization.
