Photos That Shake the World; Capturing Tragedy in a Frame

The image of a drowned Syrian child whose lifeless body was washed ashore in Turkey has recently become a trend in the media, particularly in the virtual world. The photos of this lifeless child, along with the image of a police officer holding him, have had a significant impact on audiences, prompting many to express their reactions to this tragic event by writing and sharing posts on social media. Previously, images from various events and incidents in Iran and around the world, after being captured by photographers and subsequently published in the media, have drawn the attention of many audiences to certain occurrences in different corners of the world and even stirred their empathy and solidarity. The image of a hungry and weak child in Sudan, with a vulture waiting for his death; the image of a refugee's body on a beach in Spain, just a few meters away from which two tourists are resting indifferently; or even the bloody photo of Neda Agha-Soltan dying on the asphalt of the street, or the photo of the lifeless bodies of a girl and boy buried under earthquake rubble, are among the images that have had a profound effect on audiences and even sparked waves of reaction.
