Police Commander of Bushehr Province: Action Taken Against 27 Instagram Pages of Hairdressers

The police commander of Bushehr Province stated that action has been taken against 27 Instagram pages of hairdressers and 27 norm-breaking hairdressers in Bushehr. Haidar Soseini said on Saturday morning, January 9, that these female hairdressers were publishing images of their clients on their Instagram pages to increase their follower count and customer visits. This police official claimed that these individuals even did this in some cases without the knowledge or consent of the clients. In early December of this year, actions against prominent female figures on Instagram regarding hijab intensified. In this context, dozens of pages with identical posts were blocked by the FARAJA, the public security police of Iran. The police commander of Mazandaran also reported on November 3 the implementation of an operational plan to confront promoters of bad hijab in cyberspace and the identification of 302 individuals promoting anti-cultural behavior in Babol. Hassan Mofakhami Shahrdari also reported the identification and confrontation with 302 individuals in cyberspace, claiming that they engaged in promoting and disseminating immorality, such as bad hijab, nudity, vulgar modeling, and immoral live broadcasts in cyberspace. Earlier, the intelligence organization of the police also reported the closure of 10 women's hairdressing businesses in Bandar Abbas, which were said to be engaged in unconventional advertising on social media. Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Eje'i, the head of the judiciary of the Islamic Republic, also called for extensive actions in this area in statements made on November 8, saying, 'Prosecutors and relevant judicial authorities should demand the enforcement of the law in confronting social anomalies from FARAJA, and FARAJA and the Ministry of Interior should also take action in this area; we should not wait for the approval of the bill related to chastity and hijab.' The five-year prison sentence of Mohammad Sadeghi, an actor opposing compulsory hijab, was confirmed, while Majegan Khaleghi, a cinema and theater director, was arrested. Sepideh Roshno announced a sentence of four years and one month for herself, and reactions from artists to the occupational deprivation of several actors opposing compulsory hijab continue, alongside ongoing pressures from the Islamic Republic to prevent the holding of memorial ceremonies for the victims of protests.
