Police Conference in Tehran and Warnings from the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic

On the second day of the Islamic Republic's police conference in Tehran, the Minister of Interior and police commanders referred to undercover patrols and the fight against drug production and trafficking. Concurrently with this conference, commanders and some personnel of the police met with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the meeting with the police commanders and personnel on Sunday, emphasized the importance of security in society, stating: "Without security, the daily lives of people and scientific, academic, economic activities, and the administration of the country are not possible." Khamenei, without mentioning any specific case, said that in matters related to moral security, one should not pay attention to the opposition of some individuals or media narratives. The Supreme Leader also warned again about the policies of what he called the enemy, stating that creating a dual current, dual sect, and bipolarity is a severe blow that the enemy seeks. Hassan Rouhani, the President of the Islamic Republic, also emphasized during the twentieth conference of commanders, heads, and managers of the police that the people are the owners of this country and that all people in Iran are equal before the law, which must be implemented precisely. Ali Khoshgar, a political analyst and activist residing in Paris, commented on Khamenei's statements to Radio Farda, saying that despite the Supreme Leader's warnings, Khamenei himself is the main cause of division within the Islamic Republic. During the two-day police conference, Rahmani Fazli, the Minister of Interior, referred to the country's economy and stated that security is essential for economic activities. Rahmani Fazli also commented on the issue of undercover patrols, saying that it is not as it has been presented in public opinion. Qassem Rezaei, the commander of the border police, also spoke on Sunday about the police's fight against drug trafficking at the eastern borders of the country.
