Police Confirm Armed Robbery in Zahedan; We Will Arrest the Thieves in the Shortest Time Possible

Iranian law enforcement officials have confirmed that a mobile phone and accessories store in Zahedan was robbed by armed individuals. According to the state news agency 'IRNA', Mohammad Reza Nasiri, head of the Criminal Investigation Department of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, has confirmed the footage of the armed robbery from the mobile store, stating that it occurred on Beheshti Street in Zahedan by three armed individuals. This police official has promised that the thieves will be arrested soon. Concurrently, with the increase in economic inequalities in Iranian society and the intensification of inflation alongside unprecedented recession, statistics on social anomalies and public insecurity, including theft, have risen. In April of this year, the 'Open Data of Iran' platform reported, based on data from the government agency 'Statistical Center of Iran', a '70% increase' in theft statistics in the country between the years 1391 and 1400 in the Persian calendar. Meanwhile, Sistan and Baluchestan province in the southeast of the country has faced public unrest in recent weeks, including armed actions that some experts assess as a 'hidden agenda of security agencies' to further secure the atmosphere in this province. On July 7, Molavi Abdolhamid Ismailzahi, the Sunni Friday prayer leader of Zahedan, expressed his concern over the armed attack and clashes around 'Police Station 16' in the city, condemning the armed attack. Since the onset of nationwide protests in September 2022, triggered by the death of Mahsa Amini while in custody, Sistan and Baluchestan, particularly Zahedan, has witnessed widespread gatherings, some of which continue in the form of 'protest Fridays'.
