Police Raid on Mixed Party; One Young Man Dies from Falling from Building

Following a raid by the Islamic Republic's police on a 'mixed party' in Mashhad, a young man who attempted to escape from the authorities fell from the sixth floor of the building and died. The mixed party was held on Thursday evening, June 1, at the Abadgaran tourist complex in Mashhad, and the young man fell from the 'sixth-floor terrace' while fleeing from the police. The Quds newspaper, published in Mashhad, reported on Saturday, June 3, that the building where the party took place has been sealed off by the order of a special murder judge. The name of the special murder judge is not mentioned in the report, but he told Quds that the person who rented the place for the party has been arrested. The newspaper also cited 'informed sources' stating that this party was 'a mixed party with alcoholic beverages served.' Islamic Republic officials have repeatedly arrested citizens for attending mixed private parties. Additionally, due to the prohibition of the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in Iran, the production and distribution of substandard alcoholic drinks have become widespread, endangering citizens' lives. In recent cases, several citizens in the provinces of Alborz and Hormozgan have died from consuming counterfeit alcohol. Kazem Alamdar, a sociologist residing in the United States, emphasized in an interview with Voice of America that the Islamic Republic is directly responsible for the lives lost due to counterfeit alcohol consumption. The efforts to impose the Islamic Republic's policies on the personal lives of citizens, such as mandatory hijab under the guise of 'promotion of virtue and prevention of vice,' have repeatedly resulted in casualties. A month ago, on the third of Ordibehesht, a female tourist from Bandar Abbas lost her life following a confrontation with visitors at the grave of Qassem Soleimani due to a 'hijab reminder' in Shahzadeh Garden in Kerman. Nevertheless, civil disobedience against the violation of individual freedoms by the government in Iran continues, intensifying with the protests following the death of Mahsa Amini in the custody of the morality police. Fariba Davoodi, a singer, told Voice of America that we must continue to support the protesting people of Iran and not forget the loved ones lost in the struggle for freedom.
