Political Prisoner Sentenced to Death Denied 'Right to Contact'; Authorities Deny Family Visits to Mojahid Korkori

Mojahid Korkori's sister states that officials at Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz have deprived this political prisoner sentenced to death of visitation and contact rights, and despite his family's visits to the prison, they have not been allowed to meet him. Negar Korkori, sister of the deceased Abbas Korkori known as 'Mojahid Korkori', wrote on social media on Sunday, July 1: 'In recent months, my family has gone to Sheiban Prison several times to visit my brother, but prison officials have denied them visitation.' She also emphasized that her family has gone to the 'prosecutor of Izeh' to follow up, but the prosecutor told her father, 'Your son is banned from visitation and phone contact.' Negar Korkori added: 'It has been several weeks since we have heard from Mojahid.' The judiciary of the Islamic Republic has accused Mojahid Korkori of shooting on November 25, 2022, in Izeh and killing seven citizens, including Kian Pirfalak, an accusation that this political prisoner has denied. Meysam Pirfalak, Kian's father, who was also severely injured during this attack and is still undergoing treatment, previously stated in a video that 'we saw with our own eyes that security forces shot at us and Kian.' Additionally, Amnesty International, based on its investigations, identified plainclothes agents of the Islamic Republic as responsible for the deadly shooting of citizens in Izeh on the evening of November 25, 2022, and considers Abbas Korkori (Mojahid Korkori) to be innocent of the charges against him. Abbas Korkori, known as Mojahid Korkori, was arrested during a government attack on the village of Persurakh on December 20, 2022; several protesting citizens were also killed in this attack. The Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic confirmed the death sentence of Mojahid Korkori in January 2024, and his case was sent to the execution branch of the Izeh court.
