Politico: The United States Will Send $6 Billion in Military Aid to Ukraine

The publication 'Politico' reported on Thursday, April 25, citing an American official, that the United States will announce a new military aid package to Ukraine worth $6 billion. According to Reuters, quoting Politico, the unnamed American official stated that this military package, expected to be released on Friday, April 26, will likely include tactical vehicles, 'Patriot' air defense systems, artillery ammunition, drones, anti-drone weapons, and air-to-air missiles. The report indicates that Lloyd Austin, the U.S. Secretary of Defense, is expected to announce this new aid during a virtual meeting on Friday with military officials from over 50 countries that make up the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. Politico's report on U.S. and Ukraine arms contracts comes as a $61 billion budget to assist Ukraine against Russia has recently been approved by Congress and President Joe Biden. Russia has occupied parts of Ukraine following its invasion on February 24, 2022. The U.S. has imposed new sanctions related to the Islamic Republic's drone assistance to Russia.
