Polls Predict Labour Party on Track for Decisive Victory in Elections

According to a poll published on Saturday, October 7, by the British newspaper 'The Observer', the opposition Labour Party in Britain is on track to achieve a decisive victory in next year's general elections. Reuters reports that most polls indicate the Labour Party is approximately 20 points ahead of Rishi Sunak's Conservative Party, the current ruling party in Britain. However, commentators suggest that this lead may be fragile. The research agency 'Servation' surveyed over 11,000 voters between September 11 and 25 and then used a model to produce constituency-by-constituency results. The main prediction was that the Labour Party would secure 420 seats, the Conservative Party 149 seats, and the Liberal Democrats 23 seats, placing the Labour Party, which has been out of power since 2010, in a majority with 190 seats in the House of Commons. The polls successfully predicted the results of the 2017 UK elections using this model. The Observer reported that these results predict that 12 members of Mr. Sunak's cabinet, including Oliver Dowden, the Deputy Prime Minister, and Grant Shapps, the Defence Minister, would lose their seats in the UK Parliament. This poll, conducted ahead of the Conservative Party's annual conference scheduled for this week, revealed that for British voters in any constituency, the cost of living crisis and the state of the National Health Service are two significant issues.
