Porsche Sets Record

Javad Asgari - The German automotive company Porsche has managed to set the record for the fastest sedan in the world with its newly introduced Porsche Panamera model. This car achieved a time of 7 minutes and 38 seconds on the Nürburgring track, making it the fastest sedan, a record that is 1 second faster than the previous record holder, the Alfa Romeo Giulia. A sedan, or saloon, refers to ordinary passenger cars or so-called trunk cars that have a fixed roof, a separate trunk, and two rows of seats, which can have two or four doors. The sedan is the most common body design of cars in the world. Porsche explains in a video released about this record-breaking event that they used a 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo with regular tires for this record, while Alfa Romeo engineers had made modifications to the Giulia model that held the previous record for the 7 minute and 39 second time; for example, they made the car 100 kilograms lighter and also used special racing tires for the Alfa Romeo. The new Porsche Panamera Turbo version has an eight-cylinder engine with a volume of four thousand cc with two turbochargers, capable of producing 550 horsepower and nearly 770 Newton-meters of torque. Alongside this powerful engine, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission known as PDK is responsible for transferring this 550 horsepower to all four wheels of the car. The Porsche Panamera is one of the most expensive products of the company and is considered one of the most expensive sedans in the world. The Porsche Panamera is one of the most expensive cars in the Iranian car market, with second-hand models currently trading at around 700 million tomans. The price of a new model of this car in the Iranian market is about 1 billion and 400 million tomans. However, due to the engine size, it seems that this new model will not be imported into Iran with a national number. According to Iranian law, the import of cars with engines larger than 2500 cc is prohibited, and the high engine volume of this Porsche model will likely prevent its import into Iran; however, it may be possible for this car to enter Iran with a temporary license plate for a limited time. The Porsche Panamera is a favorite car among wealthy Iranians, and this product has also been the car of many celebrities, such as Ali Daei. The success of this car in the Iranian car market was such that out of the 66 units of the Panamera 4S Middle East edition produced, 12 were sold in Iran. The new 2017 Porsche Panamera model is considered the second generation of this product. When Porsche introduced it, many were surprised that a company known for its sports cars would venture into making sedans. Nevertheless, the production of the Panamera in the passenger car segment and the Porsche Cayenne in the SUV segment brought new successes for this German company in the market and caused other luxury manufacturers like Bentley, Aston Martin, and Maserati to change their market strategies. The 2017 Porsche Panamera, which is considered the second generation of this product, will be offered in two models, including the Panamera 4S and Panamera Turbo, both of which are equipped with an all-wheel-drive system as standard. Additionally, Porsche plans to produce a hybrid version of this product next year. The base price of the 2017 Panamera 4S model is about 100,000 dollars, and this car is equipped with a new V6 engine with a volume of 2900 cc that can produce 440 horsepower with the help of two turbochargers. This car can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4 seconds. However, the new Porsche Panamera also has a more powerful and, of course, more expensive version. This model is the Panamera Turbo, which will have a price of about 147,000 dollars. The Panamera Turbo is equipped with a twin-turbo V8 engine with a volume of four thousand cc that can produce 550 horsepower. This model of the Panamera is also equipped with a system that can deactivate some cylinders to reduce fuel consumption when high power is not needed. Porsche has stated that this model can reach a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in 3.4 seconds. Like other automakers, Porsche is also working on making cars smarter while driving. This car features Porsche's InnoDrive system, which includes intelligent cruise control and can take control of the gas and brake pedals and gear shifting using information obtained from radar, cameras, and GPS. The Porsche Panamera Turbo, aside from all its features and capabilities, has an interesting option: a retractable rear wing. If the driver or the car needs more stability at high speeds, a wing opens from the back of the car to improve airflow and increase the car's grip on the road. The function of this wing is the opposite of an airplane wing and increases the car's grip on the road using air pressure.
