Possibility of Death of the Perpetrator of Terrorist Attacks in Tunisia in Libya

American fighter jets targeted a camp of the group known as 'Islamic State' in Libya, where it is believed that Nourredine Chouchane, the perpetrator of the terrorist attacks in Tunisia, was present. CNN reported on Friday, February 19, citing a U.S. government official, about the assault by American fighter jets on this camp. However, the report does not specify how many people were killed during this assault or who among the members of the 'Islamic State' group was affected. Nourredine Chouchane reportedly played a key role in two terrorist attacks in Tunisia in recent months. One of these attacks occurred in the last days of Esfand 1393 (March 2015), targeting the National Museum of Tunisia and leaving 21 dead. The second attack dates back to early Tir of the current year (June 2015) on the beach of Sousse, where an attacker opened fire on tourists, killing 38 people, most of whom were foreign tourists. The 'Islamic State' group claimed responsibility for both attacks. The U.S. military has conducted numerous airstrikes against 'Islamic State' positions in recent months. These attacks have focused on ISIS positions in Iraq and Syria, but Libya, which has become a battleground for Islamist militant groups following the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, has also witnessed these airstrikes. In one of these attacks that occurred in late Aban (November), American fighter jets successfully eliminated Abu Nabil, the head of the Libyan branch of 'Islamic State'.
