Possibility of Peyman Piran's 10-Year Imprisonment

In the name of the pure God, enduring and free Iran. The possibility of Peyman Piran being sentenced to 10 years in prison is increasing. Now that the authoritarian forces have entered the parliament with their affiliated individuals through sham elections, forming the majority in the seventh parliament, they are stepping up their efforts to eliminate and suppress political activists with a harsher tone and actions than before, perhaps in their deluded belief that they can restore what has been lost. However, this is a vain hope, as the trend towards freedom-seeking and justice-seeking among the Iranian people has taken root and is progressing. Although the regime may attempt to suppress the cries of anti-despotism and democracy-seeking by the fighters of this land through repressive means, a bright future is emerging on the horizon for Iran. Fellow countrymen: Since March 7, 2004, Mr. Peyman Piran has been detained in the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, in Ward 6, Room 3 of Qasr Prison (known as the notorious section for criminals). Four separate cases have been opened against him, two of which have been pending since 1999, 2000, and 2001, and two new cases have also been created. The main charge against Mr. Peyman Piran is membership in the National Union of Students and Graduates of Iran. Other significant charges include publishing and working in the student magazine 'Tajaddod', disturbing public opinion, and acting against national security. It seems that the judge of Branch 26 has informed him that he will be sentenced to 10 years of punitive imprisonment, which encompasses the above charges, and due to his continuous activities in the student magazine 'Tajaddod', a heavy fine has been imposed (apparently, he has been fined 5 million tomans for this activity!). He has refused to appear in court due to the court's lack of competence, deprivation of the right to choose a lawyer, and absence of a jury. This student organization has warned against any pressure and torture against Mr. Piran, demanded his release, and condemned the process of detention and intimidation of the new generation of Iranian student activists, calling for a response from domestic and international human rights organizations regarding this trend.
