Possible Ceasefire Between Israel and Hezbollah; Biden's Advisors to Meet with Netanyahu for Agreement

Senior advisors to U.S. President Joe Biden, Brett McGurk and Amos Hochstein, will travel to Israel on Wednesday, November 1, to reach an agreement that could end the war in Lebanon. Axios reported that this effort aims to achieve a deal that could potentially conclude the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah within a few weeks. Hochstein and McGurk are set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer to discuss a possible ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Times of Israel also confirmed, citing an Israeli official, the arrival of these two advisors and their presentation of a formal ceasefire proposal with the goal of finalizing an agreement that, according to Israeli and American officials, could reach a conclusion within weeks. According to Axios, Israeli and American officials believe that Hezbollah, after suffering blows in the past two months, including the death of its leader Hassan Nasrallah, may now be willing to sever ties with Hamas in Gaza. Axios reporter Barak Ravid also announced on social media platform X that Netanyahu is scheduled to meet on Tuesday evening with ministers and heads of Israeli military and intelligence agencies regarding diplomatic negotiations to resolve the war in Lebanon. The Israeli army's video targeting forces and attacking Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, the capability of Naeem Qassem to lead Hezbollah in military and operational domains, according to Ghassan Ashour, and the U.S. rewarding information related to Hezbollah's bombing attributed to a Panamanian aircraft, as well as the UN Secretary-General's concern over the banning of UNRWA activities in Israel and some Palestinian areas.
