Possible Negotiation for Prisoner Exchange for the Release of Two Israeli Citizens in Gaza

Hamas has controlled the Gaza Strip for the past eight years and has engaged in military conflict with Israel three times during this period. The group has remained silent regarding the two Israeli civilians, neither confirming nor denying their custody. The Israeli Ministry of Defense identified one of the citizens as 'Avraham Mengistu,' a 26-year-old of Israeli-Ethiopian descent, while details about the second citizen, who is reportedly of Arab-Israeli descent, have not been disclosed. The Ministry of Defense also mentioned that Mengistu, a resident of Ashkelon, likely crossed the Gaza border on foot last September. Ilan, Avraham Mengistu's brother, stated that his brother needs medical care and urged Hamas to release him to facilitate necessary medical assistance.
