President of Iran Wrestling Federation: We Will Send the Best Team to Athens

The President of the Iran Wrestling Federation stated: We will send the most prepared, best, and most experienced team in both freestyle and Greco-Roman styles to the Athens Olympics, who will return to the country with gold medals. In an interview with the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Mohammad Reza Talaghani mentioned the dispatch of Iranian national wrestlers to the qualifying competitions in Slovakia, stating that due to the continuous and stress-free training sessions the national team members have had in their camps, they are currently in very good shape. He believes that in the first qualifying competition taking place on Saturday and Sunday in Bratislava, Slovakia, the wrestlers should have no problem securing three spots in the 60, 66, and 84 kg weight categories. He also noted that the Olympics is significantly more prestigious than the World Championships, which is why they have made a strong start regarding the Olympics and have planned structured programs, including holding three consecutive training camps and sending prepared wrestlers in the 60, 66, and 84 kg categories to secure spots for Athens. After these competitions, they aim to send the best team in both styles to the Olympics, which has not been seen in recent years. Talaghani continued that after the Takhti World Cup, the national team will head to Turkey for the Yasar Dogu tournament, then participate in the Dan Kolov international competitions in Bulgaria and the Yarygin in Russia, and finally head to the Leipzig competitions in Germany. The President of the Wrestling Federation concluded by mentioning the national team's participation in the World Cup in Azerbaijan, the Asian Championships in Kazakhstan, holding national team qualifiers in May, and hosting the Super Champion competitions in heavyweight categories in Iran as other plans for preparing the team for the Olympics.
