President Trump to Host Machado at the White House

President Trump stated on Wednesday that he had spoken with Delsy Rodriguez, who was appointed as interim President after the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, the ousted dictator of Venezuela, in an operation by American forces on January 3. Maduro was charged last week in a federal court in New York regarding drug trafficking and possession of weapons for use against the United States. In a social media post about his phone call with Rodriguez, President Trump said, 'We are making tremendous progress and helping Venezuela achieve stability and improvement. Many topics were discussed, including oil, minerals, trade, and of course, national security.' He added, 'This cooperation between the United States and Venezuela will be special for everyone. Venezuela will soon be great and prosperous again, perhaps more than ever!' Machado fully supports the U.S. operations that led to Maduro's arrest, describing it as a significant step towards restoring prosperity and the rule of law. The 58-year-old Machado stated that Venezuela faces challenges and expressed her desire to return to her country.
