Prince Reza Pahlavi Calls for Unity Among Iranians Against the Islamic Republic on the Second Anniversary of Mahsa Amini's Death

Prince Reza Pahlavi, on Sunday, September 16, and on the second anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death, emphasized in a message that "Mahsa Amini's voice is still alive and the path of all the immortal heroes of the homeland who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and dignity of Iran continues." After the widespread protests in 2022 over Mahsa Amini's death while in custody of the morality police in Tehran, Islamic Republic officials killed hundreds, injured many more, and arrested thousands. Prince Reza Pahlavi, who has been actively present at gatherings of Iranians abroad during the protests, wrote in a message published on social media platform X, urging Iranians to "shout the glorious names" of those killed in the anti-government protests "with a loud voice; share their stories of courage; be a supporter of their brave families." At the end of this message, he called for unity among Iranians against the Islamic Republic, emphasizing: "Stand shoulder to shoulder against the Islamic Republic regime. We are stronger together." In this message, Prince Pahlavi also shared a video produced with artificial intelligence that recounts the story of Mahsa Amini's arrest. During the protests against Mahsa Amini's death, Islamic Republic officials executed or issued death sentences for several young protesters, including Majidreza Rahnavard, Mohsen Shekari, Mohammad Karami, Mohammad Hosseini, and several others. Additionally, Mahsa Amini's father praised the "general strike" on the second anniversary of his daughter's death as a "clear warning and protest message" to the Islamic Republic. Iranians abroad held protests and marches in dozens of cities around the world on the second anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death. There were also strikes by guilds in Kurdish cities, and the Ministry of Intelligence threatened Mahsa's family; political prisoners went on hunger strikes. The Associated Press reported that seeing women without mandatory hijabs in the streets of Iran has become a common occurrence.
