Prince Reza Pahlavi on the Eve of Mahsa Amini's Anniversary: Iran's Pain and Healing Have National Dimensions

Prince Reza Pahlavi, in a message on the eve of the anniversary of the killing of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini and the nationwide protests, emphasized that "Iran's pain has national dimensions, and its healing is also national." He warned the factors of the Islamic Republic to "think of the hour of justice and fear the consequences of suppressing the suffering nation." In this video message published on Thursday, September 7, on various social platforms, he stated: "Freedom and prosperity in our country, Iran, will be achieved when an aware, determined, self-sacrificing, and united population of Iranians understands the common pain and healing." He regarded the "anniversary of the murder of the daughter of Iran, the immortal Mahsa Amini" as an "important opportunity" for "millions of concerned Iranians from every class and group to unite and initiate a new wave of national revolution." Prince Reza Pahlavi referred to the concerns and dissatisfaction of workers, employees, retirees, students and professors, military personnel, police forces, environmental activists, writers and artists, athletes, and religious individuals, stating: "Each of you Iranian citizens, for whom the homeland has turned into a prison, your path to liberation and comfort is the dismantling of this demonic regime from our dear Iran." He emphasized that "Iran's pain has national dimensions, and its healing is also national," and said: "The anniversary of the murder of the daughter of Iran, the immortal Mahsa Amini, is an important opportunity for you, millions of concerned Iranians from every class and group, to unite and initiate a new wave of our national revolution." Prince Reza Pahlavi also warned the "repressive apparatus" that "the responsibility for any violence against the Iranian nation lies with you and your commanders" and added: "Think of the hour of justice and fear the consequences of suppressing the suffering nation. The Iranian nation is a civilized and peace-loving nation. However, the right to self-defense and the protection of life and security for oneself and others against a regime that preys on the people like a ravenous wolf is a fundamental and undeniable right of citizens." According to him, "It is through glorious national solidarity and its display inside and outside the country that this tyrannical regime can be overthrown." Prince Reza Pahlavi addressed the "proud nation of Iran," stating that they should know that "the repressive force will leave its commanders alone" when "the nation sees itself in a large crowd and at the highest level of solidarity" and urged them to "distance themselves from the divisive elements" and "raise their voices in unison: 'We are a great nation, we will take Iran back!'" In previous days, Amjad Amini, the father of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, announced in an interview with the Persian section of Voice of America about holding a memorial ceremony for his daughter, stating: "To honor the name and memory of the martyr and innocent Zhina (Mahsa) and to bring peace to the family and relatives and all her supporters, we intend to hold the anniversary ceremony this year. However, given the circumstances, we cannot officially invite people to the ceremony or tell them not to participate." Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, previously stated in response to a question from a reporter from the Persian section of Voice of America that the Islamic Republic has not learned from the recent protests. Prior to that, John Kirby, the National Security Council's Strategic Communications Coordinator at the White House, stated: "After the killing of Mahsa Amini and the popular protests, the people of Iran must now be able to make decisions for themselves and choose their own dress."
