Prince Reza Pahlavi criticized the actions of the German and American governments in this matter, noting: "Another bitter truth is that despite being a German citizen and a permanent resident of the United States, he never received adequate support from the German and American governments, and these governments did not use their leverage against the Islamic Republic to secure his freedom or at least save his life." He also wrote that this crime is further confirmation that the so-called 'moderate reformists' have always worn a deceptive mask over the face of this 'evil regime' to continue repression and executions under the cover of global silence and appeasement. In the conclusion of his message, Prince Reza Pahlavi expressed deep sympathy with the grieving family of Jamshid Sharmeh, especially his children Ghazaleh and Shayan.
