Prince Reza Pahlavi's Request to Iranians Residing in Europe: Vote for Candidates Who Believe in Maximum Pressure on the Islamic Republic

On Tuesday, June 5, Prince Reza Pahlavi called on 'all Iranians who can vote' to support candidates who advocate for maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic, referencing the participation of voters across the European Union in the upcoming parliamentary elections. In a post on social media platform 'X', he stated, 'The new European Parliament will face several issues related to Iran, including influencing the formal designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization. Therefore, I urge all Iranians who can vote in this election to cast their votes for candidates who prioritize a policy of maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic and maximum support for the Iranian people's struggle for freedom, democracy, and the rule of law.' He also noted, 'Supporting democratic change in Iran is not just an issue for Iranians or a moral stance. Beyond that, a free Iran will help address many crises currently facing Europe, such as security, economy, immigration, environment, and energy dependence.' The European Parliament elections are set to take place from June 6 to 9, with 373 million eligible voters across 27 EU member states going to the polls to elect 720 Members of the European Parliament. The current number of MEPs is 705, which is expected to increase to 720 for the new term, lasting until 2029. This election will be conducted in a single stage. Since the first European elections in 1979, every European citizen votes for the list of candidates from their country of residence, and there is no single European list, making this not a European election but 27 national elections, each with potentially different regulations.
