Prince Reza Pahlavi's Request to Zahra Sarv: End Your Hunger Strike

Prince Reza Pahlavi, in a message to Zahra Sarv, shared a report from Voice of America regarding the dire situation of this political prisoner, urging her to end her hunger strike and emphasizing that the responsibility for any incident that happens to her lies with the Islamic Republic and its leader, Ali Khamenei. In this message, published on various social media platforms on Wednesday, December 13, he stated: "Zahra Sarv's life is in danger, and the responsibility for any incident that occurs to her rests with the Islamic Republic and Ali Khamenei." He stressed that Zahra Sarv and all political prisoners should be released unconditionally and called on the UN Human Rights Council and its fact-finding committee, as well as human rights organizations, to increase pressure on the regime for the release of political prisoners. Prince Reza Pahlavi also sent a brief message to Zahra Sarv, saying: "You have shown your resilience and patriotism even in the captivity of the Islamic Republic. End your hunger strike. This struggle for the freedom of Iran continues and requires your healthy presence." Zahra Sarv, a constitutionalist political prisoner, has been on hunger strike since December 2 in the women’s ward of Evin Prison in protest against the continued fabrication of charges, denial of conditional release or leave, and deprivation of medical rights. According to a medical assessment, Zahra Sarv has a torn ACL and meniscus in her right leg and requires surgery; however, judicial authorities have denied her conditional release or the right to medical leave. On Wednesday, December 13, and on the twentieth day of Zahra Sarv's hunger strike, a source informed Voice of America that she attempted suicide by taking several pills after rejecting a "collaboration offer" from the IRGC and subsequently being threatened by IRGC officials. According to this report, at 4 PM on Tuesday, December 12, IRGC officials in the prison's protection office offered Zahra Sarv a "collaboration proposal," and after she refused, they threatened her that they would reactivate all the cases that had been dismissed against her. According to the informed source, Zahra Sarv "is still maintaining her hunger strike and has stated: This time I will stand against them with my life to claim my rights."
