Prominent Researchers Warn of Climate Conditions Worldwide

Researchers from the 'Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change' have warned that immediate and extensive actions are needed to prevent global warming and dangerous changes in the coming years. The 'Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change', which won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007, states that under current conditions and levels of greenhouse gas emissions, global temperatures will rise by 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2030. Researchers participating in a meeting in Incheon, South Korea, on Monday, October 8, say that if the current situation continues, global temperatures will increase by an additional 1.5 degrees between 2030 and twenty years thereafter. What makes their warning more serious is the fact that an increase in global temperatures by just one degree Celsius was enough to dangerously raise ocean levels, significantly expand floods, storms, and deadly droughts. Researchers say they have witnessed these changes in recent years; however, under current conditions, we are heading towards a three to four-degree increase in temperatures, which would make many parts of the Earth nearly uninhabitable. The report from the 'Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change' states that urgent and extensive actions are needed to prevent this dangerous increase. Researchers say that if the set targets for global warming are halved, significant differences in conditions will occur. This is why they are calling for immediate and widespread actions. According to scientists, achieving such a goal could reduce the intensity of heat waves and heavy rains and partially prevent rising sea levels and the melting of polar ice. Hans-Otto Pörtner, a member of the 'Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change', stated that 'every fraction of a degree increase in temperature has significant consequences.' Researchers are calling for fundamental changes in energy policies, industries and technology, construction, transportation, and urbanization. They say that human-produced carbon dioxide must be reduced by 45 percent between 2010 and 2030 compared to current levels to potentially avert widespread dangers that loom ahead. The 'Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change' is an intergovernmental organization comprising thousands of scientists and researchers who voluntarily contribute. The work of this panel involves scientifically assessing information and reports related to climate change due to human activities and the risks arising from these changes.
