According to AFP, thousands of people took to the streets in major cities on the East Coast of the United States, calling for an end to police 'violence.' In Baltimore, Maryland, protests over the past few days had turned into chaos and, in some cases, clashes between members of street 'gangs' and police forces. Reports indicate that the situation has largely returned to peaceful protests. Demonstrations against police behavior have also taken place in New York, Washington, and Boston, with the treatment of Black individuals by police being a major reason for these gatherings. In major cities across the United States, protests have been largely peaceful and devoid of violence. However, reports indicate arrests in New York. The New York police did not disclose the number of arrests, but CNN reported that more than ten people have been detained. In Baltimore, demonstrators began their march from the central train station, with both Black and White individuals participating. Officials in the city imposed a curfew starting at 10 PM the night before. Police asked demonstrators to return home before the curfew began. The Washington Post states that the recent peaceful protests in Baltimore, two days after the violence and looting that shook the city, have once again drawn attention to the main issue: the death of the young Black man following his arrest by police.
