Queen Farah Pahlavi's Message on the Passing of Ebrahim Golestan; He Was a Talented Writer and Director

Queen Farah Pahlavi expressed her condolences on the passing of Ebrahim Golestan. In her message, she wrote: "I was deeply saddened to learn of Ebrahim Golestan's passing. The late Ebrahim Golestan was a talented writer and director who played a significant role in the literary and artistic transformations and the flourishing and expansion of cinema in Iran." Queen Farah Pahlavi added: "Ebrahim Golestan could not bear what was happening in Iran in recent decades and lived far from Iran in another geography. However, in these years, when I was in contact with him, he was more present than ever in the culture, art, and literature of Iran." She concluded by expressing her condolences to Ebrahim Golestan's wife, the Golestan family, and all lovers of Iranian art. Ebrahim Golestan, the renowned Iranian writer and filmmaker, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, at his home in Britain. Ebrahim Taqavi Shirazi, known as Ebrahim Golestan, was born in Shiraz and emigrated from Iran before the 1979 Revolution. He was 101 years old at the time of his death. His daughter, Leili Golestan, director of Golestan Gallery in Tehran and a well-known Iranian translator, confirmed the news of Mr. Golestan's passing. His films include "The Hills of Marlik," "Brick and Mirror," "The Secrets of the Treasure Valley," "Wave and Coral and Stone," and "From Drop to Sea." Ebrahim Golestan also produced the film "The House is Black" directed by Forough Farrokhzad.
