Radan Announced Continuation of 'Noor Plan' Under Pezeshkian's Government

The Commander of the Islamic Republic's Law Enforcement Force stated regarding the implementation of the 'Noor Plan' under Pezeshkian's government that 'the Noor Plan is the law' and Pezeshkian 'is very keen on enforcing the law' and 'we will continue the Noor Plan.' Ahmadreza Radan regarded the 'Noor Plan' as law and stated that the police are its executors and must carry it out according to the law unless the police are relieved of their duties through the same legal route. Radan mentioned in a conversation with Pezeshkian that he considers the law as his criterion and we must follow the path. These remarks by Radan and the emphasis on Masoud Pezeshkian's willingness to continue the so-called 'Noor Plan,' which involves the worst treatment of women and girls in Iran under the pretext of hijab, come at a time when Pezeshkian had stated during the process of determining a successor to Ebrahim Raisi that 'these actions and beatings have endangered human dignity. I will stake my neck if I do not do what I said. I will be an advocate for women.' Pezeshkian had said: 'Where in religion and Islam does it say that such actions should be taken? Those who should be beaten are us. We are to blame. It is our fault. Everything is in our hands, and we are alienating everyone from religion.' Mohammad Khatami, the former president of the Islamic Republic, also called for continued support for Pezeshkian's proposed cabinet in response to a wave of criticism on August 15, stating that when Pezeshkian 'says the Noor Plan is a dark plan, he will naturally oppose it.'
