Radio Music Glossary

Familiarity with music is now considered part of general knowledge and a kind of 'cultural literacy', and enjoying music consciously as one of the main branches of fine arts is not possible without at least a superficial and general understanding of it. The music section of Radio Farda, through the presentation of a radio music glossary titled 'Step by Step', aims to introduce music to listeners by providing descriptions of common terms, symbols, instruments, and scientific and practical concepts of this art. As the famous American actor Steve Martin said, 'Talking about music is like dancing about architecture.' This statement is not entirely unfounded, thus the explanation of each of the specialized terms is accompanied by relevant audio examples to facilitate their understanding. Of course, describing each of the specialized terms in the format of an audio and radio program cannot encompass all knowledge, and for a deeper and broader understanding, one must refer to other scientific sources. However, this program attempts to serve as a 'first step' in this direction, adding to the knowledge of the listeners of Radio Farda's music section in a simple and very concise language. 'Step by Step' can be heard every Thursday in the live program of Radio Farda's music section 'Fardahang' from 8:30 to 10:00 PM.
