Rahana, sister of political prisoner Mojahid Korkor sentenced to death, arrested

Government agents of the Islamic Republic stormed the home of Rahana Korkor, sister of political prisoner Mojahid Korkor sentenced to death, on Thursday morning and arrested her. Negar Korkor announced the news of her sister's arrest on social media platform X, stating that there is no information about the detaining agency or the location of her detention. Although the reason for Rahana Korkor's arrest is unclear, officials of the Islamic Republic have previously harassed and arrested the families of political prisoners. Negar Korkor had also stated in recent days that despite repeated visits by her family to Shiban Prison in Ahvaz to meet Mojahid Korkor, prison officials had not allowed them to meet. This political prisoner, who has been at risk of execution for months, has been deprived of the right to visit and contact. The judiciary of the Islamic Republic has accused Mojahid Korkor of shooting on November 25, 2022, in Izeh and killing seven citizens, including Kian Pirfalak, an accusation that this political prisoner has repeatedly denied. Meysam Pirfalak, Kian's father, who was severely injured during this attack and is still undergoing treatment, had previously emphasized in a video that 'we saw with our own eyes that security agents shot at us and Kian.' The Pirfalak family has previously stated in a statement that they do not accept 'fake and unrealistic narratives of the murder' of this child killed in Izeh and give 'prior consent' to any residents of this city who are 'to be introduced as the murderer' of this child killed in the protests based on fabricated realities. Abbas Korkori, known as Mojahid Korkor, was arrested during a government attack on the village of Porsorakh on December 20, 2022; several protesting citizens were also killed in this attack. The Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic confirmed Mojahid Korkor's death sentence in December 2023, and his case was sent to the execution branch of the Izeh court. Previously, Abram Paley, the deputy special representative of the U.S. for Iran, called for the release of 'all prisoners' who are 'unjustly imprisoned in Iran.' Paley emphasized, 'No one should be behind bars for exercising their human rights and enjoying fundamental freedoms.' Sharifeh Mohammadi, a labor activist, was sentenced to death in the Revolutionary Court of Rasht. Abolfazl Ghadiani, a political activist, emphasized the 'boycott' of government elections and 'changing the religious tyranny system.' The European Union urged the Iranian government to stop the 'harassment' of Baha'is. The plaintiffs harshly criticized the 'voters': 'We will not allow the hollow voice of the 'traitorous minority' to be louder than the majority of the people of Iran.' A one-year prison sentence was issued for Motahareh Ghonei; the charge: protesting against the death sentence of Tomaj Salehi.
