Reactions to Khamenei's Naming for the New Year; Users: 'More Poverty Ahead'

Following the naming of the new solar year by Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, as 'Production Leap with People's Participation', social media users reacted by interpreting its content as indicative of increasing poverty in society and the expansion of governmental rents. A user named 'Motahareh' wrote on the social media platform 'X' after Khamenei's televised speech: 'Production leap with people's participation means that the regime is so helpless in improving the economic situation that it seeks help from a body that is ultimately 30 percent, and on the other hand, reduces people's protests to just economic issues while ignoring other conflicts such as mandatory hijab and unprecedented crackdowns on civil activists.' Another user, drawing from their experiences over the past years, wrote: 'Neither a production leap will happen nor people's participation; only a series of new rents will be formed based on the year's slogan. That's it.' Additionally, Mojtaba Davoodi on 'X' pointed out the hidden aspects of this naming in generating government revenues from public resources, stating: 'The slogan of the year: 'Production leap with people's participation' is for higher taxes, only the second part of the slogan has been omitted.' Another user sarcastically remarked that this naming is an open command to reach into the people's pockets, stating: 'From the slogan of the year, it is clear that we have a significant share in increasing the government's budget.' A user named 'Reliable Source' commented on the futility of these slogans, writing: 'He officially said we made a mistake by bringing inflation into last year's slogan; we will continue with the same unmeasurable names as before.' User 'Mohammad Hossein Karimi Pour' also addressed the ineffectiveness of Khamenei's annual naming, stating: 'God's power, whatever topic became the slogan of the year, was wasted during that year... We only have one slogan of the year: 'Every year, worse than last year!' What has been most evident in all these years of naming each year with a slogan is the holding of numerous conferences under that title, the production of promotional items with that name, or the execution of rent-seeking projects under its guise, which, as one user noted, 'the interesting point is that the slogans of each year remain at the level of just slogans.'
