Released Israeli Hostage: I Met Yahya Sinwar in a 'Dark and Damp' Tunnel

A 72-year-old Israeli woman who was held captive by Hamas for nearly 50 days told Channel 12 in Israel on Wednesday that she met Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, in a dark and damp tunnel. According to the Times of Israel, Adina Moshe was taken hostage from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7 of last year and was released in late November. Moshe said that Sinwar visited her and a group of hostages in a tunnel several meters deep. She stated that Sinwar spoke to them in Hebrew, which he had learned during his long imprisonment in Israel: 'Hello. How are you? Is everything okay?' She said the hostages lowered their heads and did not respond. Moshe mentioned that another meeting took place three weeks later. Yahya Sinwar, 61, along with Mohammad Deif and Marwan Issa, both 58, form a three-member military council at the head of Hamas that designed and executed the October 7 attack. Deif, Issa, and Sinwar are at the top of a list of individuals that Israel says must be killed. Adina Moshe added that 'Hamas terrorists' attacked her home on October 7, and her husband David was shot in the leg. Moshe said they dragged her out of her room's window, and another 'terrorist' went inside and shot her husband. Mrs. Moshe said she said goodbye to her husband with a kiss before he was killed. Hamas militants and their allies attacked southern Israel on October 7, killing over 1,200 people, most of whom were civilians. The militants also took more than 240 people hostage and transferred them to Gaza. Over 100 hostages were released in a temporary ceasefire three months ago, and several others were killed. The Hamas group, supported by the Islamic Republic, is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and several other countries around the world. The majority of U.S. Democratic senators support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Israeli Economy Minister stated that the Islamic Republic is a 'legitimate target' for Israeli missile attacks. Efforts continue for the exchange of prisoners and hostages; Hamas does not accept an agreement until a complete ceasefire is established.
