Repeated and Deliberate Disruption of Reza Mohammadi's Phone Calls with His Lawyer; Reza Sharifzadeh: Violation of My Client's Legal Rights

Reza Mohammadi's lawyer reported a "violation of privacy" and "repeated and deliberate" disruptions of phone calls with this political prisoner, who is imprisoned in Qazalhesar Prison in Alborz Province, stating that prison officials are preventing his client from contacting him. This comes after Mohammadi revealed two weeks ago the efforts by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to "reform" him, claiming he was not allowed to grant power of attorney to his family for inheritance matters. Ali Sharifzadeh, a lawyer, emphasized on social media that the "repeated and deliberate disruption of my esteemed client's phone calls with his lawyer by Qazalhesar Prison is a violation of privacy and a denial of his legal rights." Reza Mohammadi, a constitutionalist political prisoner, had previously disclosed in an audio file received by the Persian section of Voice of America that Iranian officials are attempting to "reform" political prisoners through economic pressure. In this audio file, Mohammadi stated that IRGC officials prevented him from granting a power of attorney for his only paternal inheritance, making it difficult for him to cover his expenses in prison. According to this political prisoner, "Neyri, the supervising judge over political prisoners, officially stated that the IRGC opposed granting your power of attorney," thereby attempting to prevent him from managing his expenses in prison through "reform." Mohammadi, who has spent years in prison previously, is currently serving a sentence of "14 years and six months" based on a Tehran appellate court ruling. A source familiar with the case had previously described the sentences issued against him, Samaneh Norouz Moradi, and Mahbubeh Rezaei in a joint case as "unjust" and emphasized that these three political activists "committed no crime" and their activities were solely for "freedom-seeking" and within the framework of "freedom of expression."
