Reports of Obstruction by Obama-Kerry State Department in FBI Investigations Regarding Iran

Chuck Grassley, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, on Tuesday released the findings of an investigation into "the comprehensive obstruction by the Biden-Obama State Department in the FBI's law enforcement efforts before, during, and after the Iran nuclear deal negotiations." According to disclosures from a legally protected individual, the FBI's efforts against senior Iranian officials faced significant challenges until Donald Trump's election in 2016, which "led to an immediate return to normal law enforcement against the Iranian regime and its supporters." Senator Grassley stated, "This report provides horrifying evidence that the Obama-Biden administration jeopardized our national security and undermined the morale of FBI agents working to protect America." He added, "The historic refusal of Democrats to be tough on Iran emboldened its regime and allowed Tehran to continue funding terrorist activities globally, such as what occurred on October 7, 2023." Grassley continued, "We should all breathe a sigh of relief that President Trump has returned to the White House to restore American power globally and hold Iran accountable for its evil actions." According to disclosures from a legally protected individual, "Officials from the State Department and the Obama-Biden administration systematically derailed our criminal and national security investigations and created a shadow amnesty program that protected many Iranian criminals." Furthermore, "FBI offices shelved dozens of investigations related to Iran, and U.S. prosecutors halted prosecutions after realizing that the obstruction by the State Department and the Justice Department neutralized effective enforcement efforts." Some findings include non-classified FBI emails indicating that the Obama-Biden State Department, under John Kerry's leadership, repeatedly obstructed the arrest of individuals involved in Iran's nuclear and ballistic programs. An FBI official stated that at least in one instance, John Kerry "personally told Justice Department officials to refrain from a particular arrest." This comes despite Kerry's promise during a pre-signing hearing of the JCPOA in Congress that he would not prevent holding the Iranian regime accountable "for terrorism, human rights, missiles, or any non-nuclear reasons." FBI officials shared their concerns about the State Department's obstruction with Justice Department leadership, but their efforts were fruitless.
