Reports: The Islamic Republic is 'in a position to attack' Israel

The Arab news network Al Arabiya, affiliated with Saudi Arabia, reported on Sunday citing 'informed sources' that Iranian government forces are 'in a position to attack' Israel. This news comes a day after a threatening speech by Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic, regarding Tehran's 'crushing response' to Israel's retaliatory attack against Iranian positions on Saturday morning, November 5. An anticipated attack by the Islamic Republic on Israel would mark the third direct attack by this government on Israel since the terrorist attack on October 7 of last year. The Islamic Republic directly attacked Israel at midnight on April 25 using at least 320 projectiles, including suicide drones and cruise and ballistic missiles, and again on October 10 with at least 180 ballistic missiles. It remains unclear whether the Islamic Republic intends to launch a direct attack on Israel from within Iranian territory or, as some reports suggest, will attack Israel through Iraq this time. Additionally, according to some reports, Iranian proxy groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iraqi Shiite militias may also attack Israel simultaneously with the Islamic Republic's assault. Concurrently with the threats from senior Iranian officials against Israel, the Pentagon announced that to ensure the safety of American citizens and forces in the Middle East and to support Israel, the U.S. Secretary of Defense has ordered the deployment of missile defense-equipped destroyers, fighter jet squadrons, refueling aircraft, and long-range B-52 bombers to the region. The B-52 bombers, which are capable of carrying nuclear weapons, have been repeatedly deployed to the Middle East to warn the Islamic Republic. Israel chose to attack the military positions of the Islamic Republic amid widespread speculation about the possibility of attacking nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure, and even political and military figures, including Ali Khamenei, in the news media.
