Republican Candidate: The Nuclear Agreement is Leading Israelis to the Oven

The Democratic Party of the United States has called for a formal apology from Mike Huckabee, a Republican presidential candidate, for his remarks that the nuclear agreement "leads Israelis to the oven." Huckabee's comments on July 26 to a conservative website, particularly his use of the term "oven," have been interpreted by some media as a veiled reference to the "Holocaust" against Jews during World War II. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Chair of the Democratic National Committee and the first Jewish female representative from Florida in Congress, has reacted to these statements. She stated that from questioning President Obama's faith to doubting his concern for the American people, they have seen everything from this party and its representatives in the presidential election. She added that now a candidate with a very high chance among Republicans claims that President Obama is leading Israelis to the oven; "such a statement, although now common in the remarks of the leading Republican candidate, has no place in American politics." Schultz has called for Huckabee to apologize to the Jewish community and the American people. The Republican candidate, like a large group of Republican politicians, has criticized the nuclear agreement between Iran and six world powers, even describing it as "foolish." He claims to have "read the entire agreement" and that it "must be stopped." From Huckabee's Twitter: "The nuclear agreement with Iran leads Israelis to the oven." The criticism and attacks from Republican representatives against the nuclear agreement and the U.S. government are not new.
