Request for 2.5 Billion Toman Bail for 3 Members of the Adinehzadeh Family

The lawyer for the Adinehzadeh family announced that the release of "father, mother, and sister" of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh, a teenager killed during nationwide protests in Mashhad, is "conditional upon the deposit of a 25 billion rial bail." Khosrow Ali-Kordi, the lawyer for the Adinehzadeh family, tweeted on Tuesday, June 30, emphasizing that "as the defense attorney for the Adinehzadeh family, due to lack of access to the case file, I am still unaware of the charges against them." Four members of Abolfazl Adinehzadeh's family were violently arrested by security forces on the afternoon of Friday, June 26, just before Abolfazl's 18th birthday, while they were going to the site of his death to commemorate him with a bouquet of flowers. Two hours later, at six o'clock in the evening, Goldasteh Hosseini, Abolfazl Adinehzadeh's mother, was also arrested in Najafabad, their hometown, along with several relatives. Khosrow Ali-Kordi previously told Voice of America that he went to the public and revolutionary prosecutor's office in Farooj County to follow up on the status of his clients and the detainees. However, "against the orders" of the Farooj prosecutor, he was not allowed to enter the prosecutor's office building and could not obtain any information about their status. He also announced on Sunday that Ali and Reza Adinehzadeh, the father and uncle of the slain protester, have been transferred to Shirvan County, while Goldasteh Hosseini and Marzieh Adinehzadeh, his mother and sister, have been taken to Bojnourd. The lawyer for the Adinehzadeh family also told the Persian section of Voice of America that due to the arrest of Abolfazl's parents, their court session to complain against the agents who shot their son has been postponed. Abolfazl Adinehzadeh was killed on October 8, 2022, during the suppression of nationwide protests as a result of gunfire from Islamic Republic security forces in front of Ferdowsi University in Mashhad.
