Request for Re-examination of Mohajed Korkori's Case Registered in the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic

A human rights source announced that a request for re-examination has been registered in the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic for Abbas Korkori, known as Mohajed Korkori, a prisoner activist at risk of execution. On Tuesday, February 10, the legal advisory group Dadban reported, citing the 'family' of Mohajed Korkori, about the registration of the re-examination request in the Supreme Court for this death-sentenced activist who is currently in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz. Dadban wrote on the social media platform X: 'According to Negar Korkori, Mohajed Korkori's sister, the request for re-examination has been registered in this court in protest against the death sentence issued by the primary court and the confirmation of this sentence by the Supreme Court of the country.' According to the report, Mohajed's sister stated that 'his mother and father have finally been able to meet with their brother in prison after a long time' and 'Mohajed reiterated his innocence during this meeting,' emphasizing that 'I did not kill anyone, why was I sentenced to death?' Meanwhile, previous reports indicated that the death sentence for this activist from Izeh in Khuzestan province had been sent to the criminal execution department in Ahvaz. The Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran confirmed the death sentence issued in the primary court for Mohajed Korkori earlier this month despite existing flaws and ambiguities in the case. While Dadban has reported the registration of the re-examination for this political prisoner, Negar, Mohajed Korkori's sister, wrote on social media X: 'We, the families of Reza Rasayi and Mohajed Korkori, die once with every sunrise, and until our brothers have no contact, we experience death thousands of times.' She again urged the people of Iran to be the 'voice of innocence' for these two imprisoned activists at risk of execution. Mohajed Korkori is a citizen from Izeh, accused by the Islamic Republic authorities of being involved in the deadly shooting on November 25, 2022, against citizens of Izeh during nationwide protests; an allegation that has been repeatedly denied by the survivors and families of the victims of that incident, including the family of Kian Pirfalak.
