Request for the Release of Abbas Vahidian Shahroudi Denied Despite Multiple Illnesses

The lawyer of Abbas Vahidian Shahroudi, a prisoner held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, stated that the request for the release of this writer and civil activist has been denied despite multiple illnesses and a forensic medical confirmation of his inability to endure imprisonment. According to the HRANA news agency, Mr. Vahidian Shahroudi currently does not have access to a breathing spray for his asthma, and his gum infection has worsened due to lack of medical care. This political prisoner also suffers from heart palpitations and has fainted twice due to severe heart palpitations. Abbas Vahidian Shahroudi, who has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on political charges, is afflicted with heart, lung, gum diseases, and a skin autoimmune disease. He was also beaten by common crime prisoners in September of this year, resulting in injuries to his neck and face, yet he has been prevented from being sent to a hospital outside the prison for imaging and examination. Abbas Vahidian Shahroudi was arrested and imprisoned after signing an open letter calling for the resignation of Ali Khamenei, along with 14 other civil activists. The planned attack by 'malicious prisoners' on Abbas Vahidian Shahroudi occurred in front of the officials of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad. Amnesty International has called for the 'immediate' release of Abbas Vahidian Shahroudi and for medical care to be provided to him.
