Response to Threats Against Israel; Gallant: We Will Respond Powerfully to Any Attack

Yoav Gallant, Israel's Defense Minister, stated that any attack on the country will face strong defensive measures and a 'powerful response' will be delivered in the 'territory' of the attacker. According to the 'Times of Israel' website, Gallant's remarks were a response to officials from the Islamic Republic who have repeatedly threatened retaliatory attacks against Israel in recent days. This threat was expressed following an alleged Israeli attack on April 1, which targeted the Islamic Republic's consulate in Damascus, resulting in the deaths of seven high-ranking commanders of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including Mohammad Reza Zahedi, the Quds Force commander in Syria and Lebanon. Israel has not claimed responsibility for this attack. The Israeli Defense Minister addressed his country's soldiers at one of the Iron Dome air defense sites, saying: 'In this war, we are attacked from more than one front... from various directions. Any enemy that wants to attack us will first face strong defense.' He added: 'Whoever attacks our territory, no matter where they are, we will respond throughout the Middle East.' Yoav Gallant emphasized that 'we have this capability' and stated: 'One of the things we have excelled at over the years is that the enemy never knows what surprises we have in store for them.' The Islamic Republic is at a crossroads of 'strategic patience' or 'harsh revenge'; the commander of the Navy of the IRGC stated: 'We do not act emotionally or hastily.' A deadly attack on the headquarters of 'IRGC-affiliated forces' in the city of Al-Mayadeen, Syria, resulted in eight deaths. The White House National Security Advisor stated that U.S. support for Israel in confronting threats from the Islamic Republic is 'ironclad.' The Israeli Navy's air defense has 'for the first time' shot down a drone.
