Return of 'Blind Mujahid' Political Prisoner Sentenced to Death from Solitary Confinement to Quarantine; Execution Threat Still Looms

On June 6, the human rights organization 'Karun' announced that 'Blind Mujahid', a political prisoner sentenced to death, has been returned to quarantine after spending 45 days in solitary confinement at Shiban Prison in Ahvaz. The organization claimed that Blind Mujahid has suffered serious cognitive and perceptual problems due to psychological pressure, yet he has been denied any medical services by prison officials and security authorities. The judiciary of the Islamic Republic has accused Blind Mujahid of shooting on November 16, 2022, in Izeh, killing seven citizens, including 'Kian Pirfalak'. However, this political prisoner has denied the charges against him, and Kian Pirfalak's mother emphasized during her son's funeral that government agents fired on their vehicle. Blind Mujahid was arrested during a security forces raid on the village of Porsurakh on December 20, 2022, where his companions were killed. His death sentence was confirmed in January 2024 by the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic and his case was sent to the execution branch of the Izeh court. Amnesty International, based on its research findings, identified government plainclothes agents as the ones responsible for the fatal shooting of Kian Pirfalak and considers Abbas Korkori (Blind Mujahid) innocent of the charges against him.
