Return of Sahand Nour Mohammadzadeh to Prison and Continued Issuance of Punitive Sentences for Activists

Sahand Nour Mohammadzadeh, a protester sentenced to imprisonment and exile, has returned to Kahnouj prison in Kerman province despite his vision treatment being incomplete. The lawyer of Mojgan Kavosi, a former political prisoner, also reported a one-year prison sentence issued for this citizen by the second branch of the Revolutionary Court in Sari. Maziar Tataei, a lawyer, announced on his personal page that after a request for retrial, Mojgan Kavosi's sentence was reduced from 61 months to 12 months. The charges against this citizen include 'propaganda against the regime,' 'insulting the leadership,' and 'conspiracy against national security.' Human rights organizations and activists have consistently criticized the Islamic Republic for suppressing freedom of expression.
