Reza Daneshvar, Creator of the Novel 'Khosrow Khoban', Passed Away in Exile

Reza Daneshvar, the creator of the novel 'Khosrow Khoban', passed away on Wednesday evening, June 6, due to cancer. This writer spent his years of exile in France and Paris, where his life ended at the age of 68. The news of Mr. Daneshvar's death has been confirmed by friends and close ones of this novelist on social media, including Barbad Golshiri, an artist and his friend, who wrote on his Facebook page: 'My dear Reza Daneshvar passed away in our arms at 9:15 PM on June 6, 1394, at the Albert Chenevier Hospital in Créteil.' Additionally, one of Mr. Daneshvar's friends mentioned in an interview with Radio Farda that his illness was pancreatic cancer, which had worsened over the past year until last month when it was also accompanied by a stroke. The writings published by literary figures in Iran and Mr. Daneshvar's close ones about his passing generally praise the novel 'Khosrow Khoban', a work published in Sweden in the early 1370s, which intertwines contemporary Iranian history with its mythological history. 'Namaz-e Mayyit' is another significant work by Reza Daneshvar, a long story written and published before the 1979 Iranian Revolution. In recent years, Mr. Daneshvar also experienced working with media, resulting in a valuable collection of interviews with writers, poets, artists, and some political opposition figures in Iran, which was broadcast by Radio Zamaneh. Among the figures who answered Mr. Daneshvar's questions in this collection are Mohammad Ali Sepanlou and Yadollah Royayi, poets; Farzaneh Taheri, a literary translator; Reza Daqati, a photographer; Kamran Diba, an architect; and Bijan Hakimat, a member of the Republican Union. Other works by Reza Daneshvar include the story collections 'Hey Hey Jebli Qom Qom', 'Six Stories of the Tablet', and the plays 'City of Lot' and 'Traveler of Nowhere'.
