Reza Pahlavi: The Key to Solving Iran's Issues is Not the JCPOA

Reza Pahlavi, the last crown prince of Iran, reacted on Wednesday, May 8, to the recent actions of the U.S. President, stating that the solution to Iran's problems lies not in the JCPOA but in the 'replacement of the regime' of the Islamic Republic. In his message published on his Telegram channel, Prince Reza Pahlavi emphasized that 'the key to solving Iran's issues is not the JCPOA or its absence.' The U.S. President officially announced on Tuesday that the United States would withdraw from the nuclear agreement with Iran and reinstate suspended sanctions against Tehran. Iran and six world powers, including the U.S., reached a comprehensive agreement in July 2015 after two years of intense negotiations to resolve Tehran's nuclear program, which suspended many U.S. and UN Security Council sanctions against Tehran in exchange for halting some of Iran's nuclear activities. However, Donald Trump has shown strong opposition to this agreement since his presidential campaign in 2016, describing it as 'the worst deal possible' and ended U.S. participation in it on Tuesday night. Following the wave of reactions to Trump's latest action, Reza Pahlavi also commented on this matter on Wednesday, stating that the solution to Iran's issues is 'the replacement of this anti-Iran regime.' The last crown prince of Iran considered the best alternative to the Islamic Republic to be 'a secular, developmental, and democratic national government.' In his Telegram message, Reza Pahlavi stated: 'The forty-year performance of the criminal sect has shown that the pit of corruption, domination, and inefficiency of this sect is endless and devours all the country's resources. The key to solving Iran's issues is not the JCPOA or its absence. The key is to replace this anti-Iran regime with a secular, developmental, and democratic national government.' Reza Pahlavi refers to the Islamic Republic government as 'the criminal sect' in his messages. Previously, in another message on his Telegram channel, he had stated: 'During the four decades of the criminal sect's rule over Iran, the national currency has lost value hundreds of times, and poverty and misery have cast a shadow over every corner of the country. If we do not reclaim our Iran from this anti-Iran sect as soon as possible, the future will be darker than today.' The protests in December 2017 in Iran, which reportedly spread to over a hundred cities, included slogans in support of the Pahlavi family and especially Reza Shah, the founder of this dynasty. Prince Reza Pahlavi has previously stated in an interview with Radio Farda that he is not concerned about the monarchy; democracy, human rights, and secularism are his priorities, and he calls for a government where Muslims and atheists can be free without conflict with each other.
