Reza Salmanzadeh, Political Prisoner, Returned to Qazalhasar Prison from Kowsar Hospital

Reza Salmanzadeh, a political prisoner who had been transferred to the hospital, described his current situation in a phone call after being returned to Qazalhasar Prison. In a phone call, a copy of which was provided to VOA, Salmanzadeh stated that he lost consciousness due to 'nervous pressure' in prison and woke up in the 'emergency room of the hospital.' He explained that he was transferred to 'Kowsar Hospital' by prison officials, experiencing 'nausea' and was in a 'half-sitting' position when he suddenly lost awareness and woke up in the hospital. This political prisoner, who has been held for '18 months without a sentence' and is in a state of uncertainty, described his current condition in the audio file: 'My arm is numb from the shoulder down. I can move it, but I cannot feel it.' He also emphasized that his fellow inmates are taking care of him. Salmanzadeh mentioned that his treating physician referred him to a cardiologist due to 'high blood pressure' and warned that 'your blood pressure may cause problems for you.' Reza Salmanzadeh is the father of Mehdi Salmanzadeh, a teenage protester who suspiciously died following the widespread protests of 2019. He has been held in prison for '18 months without a sentence' while suffering from various illnesses, including 'cervical arthritis, hernia, kidney stones, and prostate issues.' According to this report, Salmanzadeh's lawyer is expected to pursue his release in the coming days due to his illness. Salmanzadeh was transferred to the hospital following a deterioration in his health from Qazalhasar Prison in Karaj.
