Reza Shahabi, Imprisoned Labor Activist, Transferred to Hospital Due to Illness

The Syndicate of Workers of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company reported the transfer of Reza Shahabi, a board member of the syndicate, from prison to the hospital due to high blood pressure. According to the syndicate, Reza Shahabi is serving a 5-year prison sentence and requires surgery due to numerous health issues. Previously, on October 19, this syndicate issued a statement protesting the 'lack of medical attention and the failure to transfer Reza Shahabi, a imprisoned member of this organization, to the hospital' for pre-surgery examinations. According to the syndicate, a medical commission has determined that Reza Shahabi needs surgery due to spinal injuries. Reza Shahabi, a board member of the Syndicate of Workers of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, has been repeatedly arrested and imprisoned over the years and is currently serving his sentence. Following Narges Mohammadi's opposition to wearing a hijab, Reza Shahabi also refused to wear his prison uniform. The head of Evin Prison prevented Reza Shahabi's transfer to the hospital due to his refusal to wear prison clothes. The denial of treatment for Ismail Abdi and Reza Shahabi was a decision made by the judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic.
