Rouhani's Deputy Reports Execution of 'An Infiltrator' Last Year

Majid Ansari, the parliamentary deputy of Iran's president, on Tuesday morning, June 4, during the review of the bill regarding the appointment of sensitive positions in the parliament, stated that last year an individual had infiltrated some organizations in the Islamic Republic and was executed. According to ISNA news agency, Majid Ansari on Tuesday, June 4, regarding the bill for the appointment of sensitive positions said: 'From the representatives' discussions, it seems that some want to bring spies and traffickers into sensitive positions; while after the revolution, there have been conditions for checking individuals.' He added: 'While the Ministry of Intelligence has also been present. Of course, it is possible that someone has infiltrated, but has there not been infiltration in the same institutions and organizations that are currently being discussed? We had an individual who had infiltrated there and was executed as well. This was done last year.' The deputy of Hassan Rouhani did not provide further details about the executed individual, their motives for 'infiltration,' or the institutions and organizations they had 'infiltrated.' Majid Ansari's announcement of this execution comes at a time when no prior reports regarding such an execution had been published last year. However, in recent years, there have been cases of executions of individuals accused of 'espionage for Israel' in Iran. The Islamic Consultative Assembly on Tuesday morning voted for stricter measures for appointing individuals to sensitive positions and mandated executive bodies to consult not only the Ministry of Intelligence but also the judiciary and the IRGC's intelligence organization when appointing individuals to sensitive positions. This parliamentary bill has faced criticism from Majid Ansari, the parliamentary deputy of the Iranian president.
